Normally T/C and T/R fabrics is laminated with a cast poly-urethane film and flexibility is achieved by introduction of poromerics which provide poly-urethane with a porous structure ( breathability) by using a solvent that permits coagulation with a non solvent .

Shortages of genuine leather led to extension of these leather-like materials ("Man-made" leather) to replace uses of genuineleather in shoes, clothing, bags, upholstery and other items.
